Glossary

TermMeaning
Weekly play groupA repeating League block on the court calendar — name, weekdays, time, courts, and one captain (e.g. Men's Doubles)
Club PlayOne dated night inside that group — signup, live courts, and game scores at /club-play
Seasonal StandingsOptional season total. Link a weekly group to it when you want many nights to add up (e.g. Men's Doubles · Fall)
Session (result)Completed archive after you finish a Club Play — Rankings → Sessions

Members do not join Seasonal Standings for the whole season. They must be on the sport roster, then sign up for each Club Play.

How the pieces fit

Admin → captain → members

  1. Admin From Club Play → Weekly play, chooses Create or modify a block. That opens Admin → Schedule with block type League already selected. Create a new block (name, repeat, courts, captain) or choose Modify on a posted series. It does not open Sections. Seasonal Standings are optional.
  2. Admin Ensures players are on the sport roster and profile rules are set.
  3. Captain Turns on the formats this group may use, then runs that week's Club Play.
  4. Members Sign up while status is registration.
  5. Captain Starts live play and enters per-game scores.
  6. Captain If someone must leave, clicks Replace on that checked-in player, searches the sport roster, and picks who takes the spot. Scored games stay with the player who left. The new member takes unscored courts for the rest of the night. Someone already in the session cannot take the spot. Both are recorded when the session ends.
  7. Captain Completes the Club Play.
  8. Everyone Reads Sessions for that night. Seasonal Standings update only when the group is linked to them.

What the admin does

  1. Club Play → Weekly play → Create or modify a block. That opens Admin → Schedule with block type League already selected (it does not open Sections). Create a new block: From/Through, Repeat on, courts, daily time, and a name such as Men's Doubles, plus one captain. Or choose Modify on a posted series to change the name, repeat, courts, or captain. Optionally attach Seasonal Standings.
  2. Rankings → Admin → Seasonal Standings — create a season total when you want one (templates are fine). Rename with Save name.
  3. Roster + profile rules so members can sign up.
  4. Later: change the weekly name, captain, or season link; archive or delete Seasonal Standings.

Admins can also run Club Play themselves (site nav, Rankings Captain tab, or Admin → Club Play).

What the captain does

  1. Opens Club Play and sees the weekly groups they captain.
  2. Turns on king of the court, round robin, ladder, and/or Swiss, and whether the group is singles or doubles. Saves those options.
  3. Clicks Run this week for the next date. Courts stay the ones already held.
  4. At the courts: Start live play → enter court scores → Complete. Members watch. They do not enter scores during live Club Play. If someone must leave, Replace them: scored games stay with the player who left, and the new member takes the rest of the night.
  5. Backup: Captain tab → enter W/L/points manually when there was no live Club Play.

A one-off Club Play can still be started under Seasonal Standings when the night is not on the weekly calendar.

What members do

  1. Be on the sport roster with a complete profile.
  2. Open Club Play → sign up for an open event.
  3. Play; watch live scores on the same page (view only — the captain enters scores).
  4. After complete: Seasonal Standings, Sessions, and (if enabled) the club Leaderboard.

Casual play (not Club Play): When there was no live Club Play night, members may use Rankings → Submit results; other players then confirm via the Confirm tab, wallet QR, or 4-digit code. That peer-confirm path does not run during a live Club Play session. Events linked to seasonal standings are another optional path (admin scores the roster).

Worked example — Men's Doubles

  1. Admin blocks Saturdays 8–10 on courts 1–4, names it Men's Doubles, and assigns a captain.
  2. Optionally links Seasonal Standings named Men's Doubles · Fall.
  3. Captain turns on round robin and runs this Saturday's Club Play.
  4. Players sign up → captain scores live. If someone must leave, the captain clicks Replace: scored games stay with that player, and the new member finishes the night.
  5. The captain completes the night. Both players are in the session record.
  6. The night appears under Sessions. The fall total updates only because the group was linked.
